As a previous community development business owner in Nanaimo, Lisa worked with various levels of governments and non-profits focused on increasing access to resources for individuals experiencing poverty, homelessness, mental illness, and addictions. She currently works in the field of substance use and addictions.
Lisa has deep connections to the Nanaimo community, having raised two teenaged children and established her career on the unceded territories of the Coast Salish people in Nanaimo. Lisa is undertaking a Masters Degree in Community Development at UVic. Lisa’s education and work taught her that well-functioning communities require governments that prioritize social determinants of health and well-being as a necessity of a successful economy.
School Board Trustee
In 2018, Lisa earned the confidence of the Nanaimo Ladysmith community when she was elected as School Board Trustee. She currently serves in the positions of Chair of the Education Committee, Provincial Council Representative for the British Columbia School Trustee Association (BCSTA), and served 2 years as Vice Chair of the Nanaimo Ladysmith Board of Education.
